Toy Story: Woody Cake

I had the most fun making this cake. My original plan was to make Woody's bed and have toys on the floor. But because I didn't make up my mind in time, it proved a little difficult finding the toys. So I started looking again and I am so glad because I found this idea. I know the inspiration cake looks a lot better, but I have to say I am proud of the way it turned out.

I don't think you can see this because of the glare, but the badge really does say "SHERIFF." I don't think I have ever written anything so small (with fondant) before!! And can I just say that threading fondant string through fondant isn't easy. But boy does it make all the difference!!

Woody's face - I hand painted this on fondant! The bandanna is fondant.

Belt Buckle. You just have to love a cowboy!!

Princess shoe on pillow cake

I got very excited when I received an order for a princess cake. I got excited because I love it when I hear the words, "Just make it cute. I trust you." The only thing she asked for was the colors to be lime green, purple and pink and to have a shoe on it. I went on a search for a really cute princess cake and found lots of ideas for pillow cakes. I just had to try it.
Both the base cake and the pillow are made out of white cake, iced with buttercream icing and decorated with marshmallow fondant.

Dots...dots...dots...

This cake was made for one of my great friend's daughter. Micah turned nine this week. As far as cake decorations were concerned, she knew exactly what she wanted. She was too cute when she told me her idea. A purple cake with lots of polka dots in bright colors...green, blue, and pink.
Happy Birthday Micah!!!
Underneath the marshmallow fondant you will find a marble cake slathered in buttercream icing.

Chrysanthemum Cake

This cake has a pretty cool story to it. I don't tell stories that well, but here it goes:
Last month I received an email requesting a cake. The lady that emailed me was from Texas, but throwing a baby shower here in Birmingham. I was very curious to find out how she found me. It turns out that her mother did a google search for specialty cakes and sent her several websites to choose from. I was very excited because she chose me!!
Well, when I delivered the cake, I ran into a girl that I knew from college. Turns out, she was related to the sweet girl that ordered the cake. Her mother even knows my brother-in-law.
Such a small world!!!

The top layer is white cake and the bottom layer is chocolate. It is iced with buttercream and decorated with marshmallow fondant.

Prince Cake

I made this cake for a sweet little boy named Isaac that is turned one! This is his smash cake. I will have to get the picture of his actual cake. I let Page take it and I haven't gotten it from her yet.

Luau Party

My best friend turned 30 and we had a wonderful time celebrating. We had a Murder Mystery Dinner party. To find out all about it, you should go to Page's blog.
I got to make her cake!! Her favorite cake of all time is white cake. She is actually getting sad that her kids are getting old enough to pick out their own flavors (and it isn't white)! She only has two left that aren't old enough to give their cake flavor recommendations. I did make some chocolate cupcakes for the chocolate lovers attending.
The photo is courtesy of Page. She is a fabulous photographer and I wish she could photograph all of my cakes. She makes them look so much better!
I love you Page!!!
