Pool Party

This cake was so much fun to make. It was the first time I tried combining colors in a specific order (see the beach balls). I thought the pool noodles turned out pretty cute too.
Emma, I hope you had a wonderful birthday!!

Sisters celebrating together

A friend of mine asked me to make her daughter's birthday cakes. One was turning ten and the other was turning one. They decided to have one party and celebrate together since they were both milestone birthdays, but would each get their own cake. I used the same colors just on different layers so they would compliment each other.

Skunks?

Yep!! This cake was for a little boy's first birthday. His nickname is Stinky. I was told that his name was meant in a good way! Well, in honor of his nickname, I made him a skunk cake. Here is what I came up with.

Super Sonic

One of my students asked me to make them a cake. He was so cute because he was very specific in what he wanted. I drew him a picture of what he described and he liked the design. His mom also sent me a picture they found on the internet of something they would like as well. I combined the drawing and the picture and this is what I ended up with. I had so much fun showing him the end product and seeing how excited he got. I made this without my overhead projector - all by hand! =o)

Poodle in Paris

A friend from church asked me to make this cake for her daughter. I had so much with this one. I actually drew this poodle by hand - no overhead projector! I thought about putting a border around the cake, but was too nervous to mess it up. If I am ever asked to do this one again, I think I might attempt it because it might make it looked more complete. The plaque on the front of the cake did have "Happy Birthday" on it, but I didn't write it on there until I got to the party. This is also an order that had party favor cookies.

It is that time again!

The sixth grade at my school is celebrating the end of their book study of Great Expectations. Each year they dress up as characters from the book and have a party. I have had the privilege of making this cake for the past two years and have been asked to make it for a third time. I try to keep them a little similar, but make them look a little different each year. I am sad that I wasn't able to put any candy rats on the cake and hope that the students have some candy gummy worms to add to it a little. This year, I wanted to make it look like it was really going to fall over. I put a little green food coloring in the cake batter to make it look old and moldy and also made the icing in between each layer green! So much fun!!! You can't mess up this cake. That is what is so fantastic about it!!!

Lightning McQueen

This is my second Lightning McQueen cake. I will post my first one tomorrow when I can get to my laptop. It was made for a cute little boy that goes to my church. Silas, I hope your birthday was fantastic!!
I made the wheels out of Oreo cookies and covered them in fondant. The cake is white cake with buttercream icing and covered in marshmallow fondant. I learned how to make this from a blog called Kitchen Scrapbook. She is fantastic and did a great job with all of the step by step instructions and pictures to go with each step.

Giraffes, Lions, Zebras...are we at the zoo?

This cake was for one of the cutest little boys. Some friends from school recommended me to a sweet lady that needed a cake for her little boy's first birthday. She gave me the plate as a guide and this is what I came up with. I really wanted all the little animals that were on the plate to be on the cake. I would have loved to have the little monkey on the vine, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet. Maybe next time!! Anyways, happy birthday Graham! I hope you had a great day!!

Time for some Tennis

A student at my school is playing tennis this year. He requested a cake that looked like a tennis court. He wanted rackets, tennis balls and the net! This was a ton of fun to make. I did not come up with this idea on my own, but figuring out the best way to recreate it was a blast. Here is the cake that gave me the idea.

Oh Happy Day! A Baby Girl is on the Way!!

A teacher at our school is going to be having a girl! We were able to pull off a surprise baby shower for her! We were even able to get her mom there. It was so much! Congratulations Kim!! We hope the best for your family!
