Star Wars - General Grievous

For those of you that are not Star Wars fans....meet General Grievous. He is a robot that can fight with four light sabers because he has four arms!!! I was asked to make this cake for a birthday party. I went online and found a website that showed you how to draw his face. No, I did not actually draw the bottom picture, but I did print it off so I would have something to go by. I think I got pretty close to matching the drawing...what do you think?

I think I can....I think I can...

I know your first guess would be that this cake is for twins, but it isn't. I was asked to make it for two cousins that were born a few weeks apart. They both love trains so it was an easy decision for the party theme. Strawberry cake is under a yummy layer of buttercream icing.

High Heel Cake

This cake was ordered by a friend of mine to surprise her daughter's teacher. From what I understand, Mrs. Clyburn (who is also a friend) wears some pretty snazzy shoes to work. I also heard that she won a Snazzy Shoes Award from the principal!! I made this cake in honor of her wonderful taste in shoes. Allison, I hope your birthday is wonderful!!

This cake is a 10 inch square (double layer). It is chocolate cake with buttercream icing!

Cupcake Cake Topper

I had so much fun making this cake. I used several different ideas and combined them. The Pink Cake Box gave me the idea for the cupcake on top of the cake with the whimsy number one design. I got the idea for the smooth fondant from The Baked Creation. I loved how simple their technique was. Then I decided to try the new sleek bows instead of the big party ones I have been using.
The cake is white cake with buttercream icing and is covered in marshmallow fondant.
Happy Birthday little Anna!! I hope your first birthday was wonderful!!

Hannah Hooten - Interview with a Future Cake Decorator

I am so excited!!! This is my first time having a guest blogger and what makes it special is that she is also my daughter. The past few weeks Hannah has been interested in cake decorating. Not just eating the left over icing and leveled off pieces of cakes, but actually the decorating part. While we were working on her first cake she said that she wanted her own cake blog too. She said she would settle for a guest blogging spot until she could learn how to type!!

Well, without any further ado, I introduce Hannah Alyse Hooten

D - "How old are you?"
H = "6 1/2 years old"

D - "Where do you go to school?"
H = "I home school with Hope Christian School."

D - "What are some of your favorite things to do?"

H = "I like to jump rope, decorate cakes, listen to my mp3 player, and ride my bike."

D - "What are your favorite songs?"

H = "'Amazing' by my Uncle Chuck, 'Holy' by UCF, and 'Wheels on the Bus' by Veggie Tales

D - "What are your favorite colors?"
H = "My favorite colors are pink, purple, red and white."

D - "What is your favorite football team?"
H = "Alabama, you know that!"

D - "What sparked your interest in cake decorating?"
H = "You!! Heehee"

D- "What do you like most about decorating cakes?"

H = "I like to squirt the icing and spread it out."

D - "What was it like baking and decorating your first cake?"
H = "It was really exciting! I liked putting the layers on each other and playing with the icing."

D - "What are you looking forward to making in the future?"
H = "I can't wait to try making Smores cookies with my Easy Bake Oven. Oh, and baking my Aunt Zoe's birthday cake.

D - "What is your favorite kind of dessert?"
H = "My favorite is icecream!"

D - "Do you have any advice for first time Easy Bake Oven bakers and cake decorators?"
H = "Well, before I had an Easy Bake Oven, I had a Cupcake Maker. Now I think that you should get an Easy Bake Oven because it is better than a cupcake maker. You can make more things like: smores, doughnuts, pizza, and cakes."

Here are some pictures of me baking my first cake and decorating it. I hope you like it!

I was mixing the icing for the cake.

It was a chocolate cake!

I am icing the cake. It was fun!

I wasn't really licking the icing! I was just posing!

This is my very first cake made with my Easy Bake Oven!

This is my brother asking for the second slice of cake.

This is me washing all of my cooking stuff I used.
Cleaning up is just as important as baking!!
